Feeling Stressed? Give this a try!

For some people, stress is just a part of their everyday life. Unfortunately, we can never ultimately get rid of it, but we can make it as minimalistic as possible.

One simple, yet effective, way to do this is to organize! De-cluttering your environment will de-clutter your mind, as well!

The easiest way to get started with this task is to go directly to your closet. This small room holds your clothes, shoes, jackets, etc. and it can also hold stress and clutter.

This particular closet shown above, is just a headache waiting to happen. How someone can live this way and not be stressed is beyond me. By simply organizing the space, we can create a much more zen environment.

Lets get started!

  1. Sort through every single thing in your closet. Make 3 piles or sections; a keep pile, toss pile, and a donation pile. Many times, you have things in there that you didn't even know you owned, or even worse, things that still have the tags on them!
  2. Dust, clean, and vacuum! If your closet looks anything like the one shown above, then it needs to be cleaned. Closets can hold a lot of dust which can aggravate allergies and sinuses.
  3. Shelving, boxes, and hangers. Even if you have a tiny closet, you still have more space than you think. Hang items that are similar next to one another. Fold and organize your clothes that go in drawers or on shelves. Again, keeps items that are similar near each other, so that it is easy to find what you are looking for.
  4. Shoes, shoes, and more shoes! For many women, and even some men, shoes tend to take over our closets. Purchasing an inexpensive shoe rack or shelving unit will make your closet so much more organized.

When finished, hopefully your space will look more like the picture shown here; simple, de-cluttered, and organized. Finding clothes to wear will be so much easier now and the clean environment will help, even if just a little, to get rid of the stress in your life!
